The Master and Margarita Review:
The book begins with the first of these, as two authors, Mikhail Alexandrovich Berlusconi and Ivan “homeless” Ponerio, discuss his latest poem. Berlusconi, who is also president of the Writers’ Union, criticizes Ivan for being too honest in his writings about Jesus. Woland then tells the first part of the pilot’s story. When Berlusconi fell on sunflower oil and fell under the tram, Wieland’s prediction came true and he lost his head, Wyland’s prediction came true. Ivan tries to follow them after Woland and his friends – Cruyff and the big black cat, Behemoth- but they fail. Through a sense of humour, he reaches out to Greibedifs, which is responsible and tries to tell his other writers what happened. The fascinating style and fascinating nature of his story put him in the shelter of Dr Stravinsky’s madness.
