It was a novel in his own name. Originally published in 2011. Crown bought the copyright and republished it in 2014. Botanist Mark Watney remains on the surface of Mars for the dead after sucking the antennae-like the wind. He survived the first catastrophe but finds himself on the planet and does not know how to talk to anyone on Earth. His food, water, and oxygen will only last a long time, so he must come up with a plan to keep him alive until rescue is available. There is very little room for error, and Watney often approaches a dangerous catastrophe. You can read the review and download The Martian pdf at the end.
The Martian Review:
The novel, one of the first novels to be serialized on Andrew’s personal website, has a strong 21st century Robinson story and maintains a high level of sensitivity. Mark Whitney is the protagonist of an incredibly popular film: Brave, resourceful, and smart and witty. The technical talk maybe a little dark at times and some of the sub-characters may not be well-mannered, but Weir is great at predicting his main character.
