The Machine Stops Review:
History reflects a world in which much of the human population has lost the ability to live on Earth. Now everyone lives alone underground in an ordinary room, satisfying all physical and spiritual needs through the almighty global machine. Travel is allowed, but popular and rarely necessary. It describes a world in which almost all human beings have lost the ability to live on earth. Everyone lives in solitude in a ‘cell’, the Almighty, fulfilling all physical and spiritual needs through a global machine. Most people welcome this development because they are skeptical and afraid of the first-hand experience.
