Madame Pernelle uses this opportunity to visit the house of her son Orgon, to criticize all the members of the household, and to admire their borders with Tartuffe, for he is a man of such purity and zeal. Others object to Tartuffe, saying that he is a liar and a hypocrite, but Madame Pernelle will not follow such views. When she leaves, she advises everyone to obey Tartuffe’s order. After Madame Pernelle’s departure, Cléante and Dorine leave, they talk about Tartuffe and both agree that he cheated on Gon Reagan. Orgon’s son, Damis, wonders if his father will still allow Mariane to marry Valère; Damis needs to know Gon Ragon’s feelings because he wants to marry Valerie’s sister. He asks about his promise to allow the client to marry in Orgon. You can read the review and download the Tartuffe pdf at the end.
If Moliere’s “turtle” has a simple message, perhaps presentations can be deceptive. The turtle is a wand that Oregon takes home. Tartuffe influenced Oregon with his pious religious and moral beliefs and behavior. As a result, his carefully composed face of Tartuffe fell in love with both Oregon and his mother, Madame Pernelle. The first attempt at the trap failed because Gon Reagan’s son, Demis, misinterpreted the situation and accused Tartuffe of cheating. Tartuffe plays the victim, and Gon scolds Reagan Demis, “calling him a traitor, you’re a scoundrel in this house.” Eventually, he sees Tartuffe for the scandal he actually has, but unfortunately, Tartuffe has papers showing that Oregon signed him at home.
